It is cold and it rains, but have to test my new bottom bracket.
Bullshit, there is nothing to be tested around new bottom brackets, it’s just an obsession. Finally not the bottom bracket failed.

Michi and Mario come too late and so have to ride with grumpy George …

Riding some nice strade bianche with the old farts to exhale yesterdays gin tonic …

Last task: drop the stone from river Werra in river Saale. Or your bike. We ride from Blankenstein to Hof to jump on the train home.

We start at 7. Tradition says everone who does the Rennsteig has to pick a stone from river Werra and has to drop it into river Saale at the end of it. Alright, we do it.
After passing an ugly ski-ressort around noon wheather does not want to follow forecast and it starts raining. With hail. For the rest of the day. Lars and Mario quit. Dumb Michi, Ulf and me ride on, soaked, freezig. And loose the way. Again and again. And then it gets dark, that was not planned and so we have only one little lamp just to be seen. After one hour riding in darkest night we also have to quit, only 11 km missing to the finish.
Upshot? A true „brovet“, great route, great adventure. Good boys. And always carry rain gear with you and a lamp. We had only a little bottle of bourbon. We will come back to do the last 11 km.

4 blokes go by train from Munich to Eisenach to do the famous „Rennsteig“. We meet bloke number 5 and ride to the Wartburg, german history, you know … Then preparation for the next day and early to bed.

No winner, everyone gets a finisher beer.

Nice spring ride with Jochen. His waterproof gloves are not waterproof. My waterproof shoes are waterproof, no single blob drips out.

Light countryside touring with Michi and Ulf. If you need the bidons refilled go to the cemeteries, there is always water. They pump it up there.

Do not expose your cyclist legs to the sun over winter! So you can use them as high viz safety equipment in dark spring nights.
